October Monthly Grocery Haul ($310 for a family of 7)

October 26, 2018 by Stephanie 3 Comments

I'm taking you with me to Winco, Sam's Club, Grocery Outlet, and Sprouts to do our monthly grocery shopping! We spent $310 of our $400 monthly grocery budget. Come along and see what we got!

In October, I spent $310 on my monthly grocery shopping trip for my family of 7. While I try to get most of what we’ll need for the month in one giant shopping trip, I still usually make a few smaller trips throughout the month for more milk, bread, and other great deals that I happen to find.

I mostly just shop for the staples that we’re low on, so I don’t have to buy everything every month.  We have meat in the freezer (and we’re not huge meat-eaters), so I didn’t buy any this month.  I also have lots of frozen veggies and fruits on hand.  Last month I got lots of peanut butter, so we’re good on that for a while.

This month we were blessed with some garden produce that a friend shared with us, as well as nearly an entire apple tree full of apples.  We’ll be making applesauce this weekend!

Instead of laying everything out on my kitchen table to show you, I decided to take you shopping with me so you can see everything I got!  Let me know what you think about this sort of video versus the lay-it-all-out-on-the-kitchen-table-and-talk-about-it-kind.

As usual, you’ll find the prices for everything below!

Our groceries are around the same price or in some cases much cheaper but I can not get our budget down to that! Of course we eat meat almost every night, which doesn’t help; and we go through about 2 litres of milk a day, and about a kilo of cheese a week. (My husband grew up on a dairy farm. Someone has to do their part to help out the farmers, right?) BTW I was drooling at the big bag of candy corn. My sweet, lovely parents send me some every year but I’ve finished mine and I am, sadly, candy cornless. (They don’t sell it here, except in the US food shop, and it always sells out quickly there.)

What do you do with the homestyle bulk noodles from Winco? My daughter saw those the other day when we were picking up some pasta and wanted some but I wasn’t sure what I’d do with them…
